Cate's upbringing, guided by her mother Nancy, a Stained Glass Artist, immersed her in a world of creativity and vibrant characters at the Maryland Renaissance Festival and various art shows in Maryland and Pennsylvania.
In high school, Cate discovered her passion for theater, leading her to pursue a major in theater and a certificate in secondary education at York College of Pennsylvania. Her teaching journey took her to Long Reach High School in Howard County, teaching theater for five years before a 17-year tenure at Glenelg Country School. Exploring various artistic realms, including special effects makeup, costume making, puppetry, mask making, fused glass and marble making, and artistic metalwork, marked her time at Glenelg.
In the summer of 2023, Cate left her teaching position and, in December, joined Baltimore Knife & Sword as Administrative Support. Thrilled to apply her teaching skills behind the scenes at BKS, she secretly harbors a desire to learn the art of crafting sharp objects under Kerry's guidance. Beyond work, Cate enjoys quilting and cares for two classic British sports cars. Through shared experiences at the Maryland Renaissance Festival and local British sports car gatherings, her friendship with Kerry was forged. Grateful for the opportunity provided by Kerry, Cate is excited to join the eclectic team at BKS.
